Four members of the Zimbabwe National Army (ZNA) have died in a road traffic accident near Bromley along the Harare-Mutare Road.
Three others were injured in the accident and are reported to be in stable condition.
Director Army Public Relations, Colonel Hlengiwe Dube confirmed in a statement.
“The Zimbabwe National Army (ZNA) regrets to announce the death of four of its members who died in a fatal Road Traffic Accident on Friday, 7 August, 2026 at approximately 1600 hours.
“The ZNA members were aboard a BAW military vehicle traveling from Harare to Mutare.
“The vehicle was involved in an accident at the 45km peg along the Harare – Mutare Road at Broomley, resulting in the death of four soldiers on the spot.
“The deceased have been identified as:
“Warrant Officer Class 1 Philimon Chamisa.
Warrant Officer Class 2 Chindowa Lydia.
Sergeant Mundicho Wellington Wonder.
Lance Corporal Mupemhi Edmore.
“Three other members sustained injuries in the accident.
“Two were immediately admitted at Marondera District Hospital and the third one was admitted at 2 Referral Hospital in Josiah Magama Tongogara Barracks formerly KG6.
“All three are receiving treatment and are in a stable condition.”
The ZNA extends its deepest condolences to the families, relatives, friends and colleagues of the four members who lost their lives in this tragic accident. May their souls rest in eternal peace.
The ZNA wishes the injured members a speedy and full recovery.
Zimbabwe Republic Police Marondera District Traffic Section is investigating the circumstances surrounding the accident.
He said, burial arrangments of the deceased will be communicated in due course.
