Yadah target PSL survival, set sights on reinforcements

YADAH coach Kudakwashe Masaraure says his immediate priority following the club’s promotion to the Premier Soccer League is to ensure the Miracle Boys avoid relegation and establish themselves in the country’s top-flight league.

Yadah secured the Pacific Storm Eastern Region Soccer League championship after a demanding campaign, officially receiving their crown at Greenfuel Arena in Chisumbanje on Saturday despite losing 1-0 to Green Fuel in their final match.

The Miracle Boys had already put the title beyond reach a week earlier after beating Masvingo United 2-1 to accumulate an unassailable points tally.

However, with the celebrations over, Masaraure says attention is now firmly on the challenges that await them in the Premier Soccer League, where survival will be the club’s immediate objective.

“Our target as we go into the top-flight league is to avoid relegation.

“We are going to fight harder just to avoid the drop. We don’t want a situation of seeing ourselves back in the lower division just after one season,” said Masaraure.

The coach acknowledged that competing at the highest level would demand significant improvements to the squad, particularly given the difference in quality and intensity between Division One and the Premier Soccer League.

He said the club was aware of the need to strengthen its ranks but insisted that recruitment must be guided by quality rather than simply increasing the number of players.

“I understand the need to boost our squad because it is going to be a bit different, but we should make sure that we bring in quality players that are better than those currently in the squad,” he said.
