Zimbabwean netball sensation Thandazile ‘Barbie’ Ndhlovu has signed with Malaysia’s Melaka Mystics following a standout season with Swifts Netball Club, where she emerged as one of the Singaporean league’s most influential players.
Ndhlovu, a prolific Goal Shooter, joined Swifts Netball Club on loan from the reigning Rainbow Netball League (RANL) champions, Correctional Queens, earlier this year.
Her arrival proved to be a turning point for the Singaporean side as they navigated a highly competitive DNSL season.
Under Ndhlovu’s offensive leadership, Swifts Netball Club achieved a significant upward trajectory in the league standings.
After concluding the previous season in fifth place, the club surged forward this year to secure a third-place finish, claiming the second runners-up spot.
Reflecting on her time in Singapore, Ndhlovu expressed immense pride in the team’s collective growth.
“The experience at Swifts in Singapore was super rewarding, I loved every bit of it, and I was so excited to have such an impact on the team,” she said.
The talented shooter’s ability to deliver under pressure has now opened doors in Malaysia.
By joining the Melaka Mystics, Ndhlovu continues to solidify her reputation as an elite athlete capable of competing on the continent’s biggest stages.
“I feel honoured to be recognized and to play on such big stages because it is one of the greatest achievements in my netball journey,” Ndhlovu added.
Encouraging the next generation, she advised upcoming netballers to believe in themselves and never give up on their goals.
Ndhlovu’s move to Malaysia comes on the heels of a remarkable run of form that began late last year.
In December, she dominated headlines following a stellar performance at the Africa Netball Cup in Lilongwe, Malawi.
There, she scooped the prestigious Player of the Tournament title while helping the Zimbabwe senior national team (the Gems) secure a third-place finish.
As she transitions to the Malaysian league, she remains a key figure to watch, carrying the momentum of a podium-finish season into her new chapter with the Mystics.
