Rejuvenated Manica Diamonds target maximum points against Bulawayo Chiefs

  1. Manica Diamonds FC travel to Bulawayo brimming with confidence ahead of their Castle Lager Premier Soccer League Matchday 15 encounter against Bulawayo Chiefs on Monday.

The Mutare-based outfit has shown signs of revival since businessman Evance Kamombo assumed leadership of the club, with renewed belief, improved performances and a fighting spirit becoming evident within the squad.

The Gem Boys are steadily rebuilding momentum and are determined to climb away from the relegation zone.

  • Having produced encouraging displays in recent weeks, Manica Diamonds head into the fixture eager to extend their unbeaten run and secure a crucial three points on the road.

Head coach Patrick Mandizha believes his charges are ready for the challenge and says the team has worked tirelessly during the week to sharpen key aspects of its game, particularly finishing in front of goal.

“It is always difficult to play after other teams have already played, but we are confident. We came here to collect points and the boys are ready.

“During the week we worked on a number of areas, including our finishing, and the players have responded well,” said Mandizha.

The atmosphere in the Manica Diamonds camp remains positive, with players and technical staff united by a common goal of turning promising performances into victories.

Currently sitting in 16th position with 10 points from 14 matches, the Gem Boys know that victory over Bulawayo Chiefs would take them to 13 points and significantly boost their chances of climbing the league table.

The fixture also presents an opportunity for Manica Diamonds to demonstrate the progress made under the club’s new leadership and further strengthen belief among their supporters.

Meanwhile, newly appointed Secretary-General Taurai Kandishaya has rallied Manicaland natives living in Bulawayo and surrounding areas to turn out in large numbers and back the team.

In a video that has since gone viral on social media, Kandishaya expressed confidence in the team’s ability to thrive under pressure.

“We experienced the atmosphere created by Bulawayo teams when we played Highlanders last week, so we know what to expect. Manica Diamonds are a product of pressure and we believe we can deliver even in difficult environments.

“We are coming for maximum points,” said Kandishaya, affectionately known as “Mabhora Mabhora”.

Supporters are expected to play a crucial role as the Gem Boys seek a positive result away from home.

The club has urged all Manicaland residents in Bulawayo to fill the stands, create a vibrant atmosphere and provide the backing needed to inspire the players.

With valuable league points at stake and renewed optimism surrounding the club, all roads lead to Bulawayo for what promises to be an entertaining and fiercely contested Castle Lager Premier Soccer League encounter.

The Gem Boys will be counting on the unwavering support of their faithful followers as they continue their quest to rise up the standings.
