ZPCS launches Men’s Forum in Matabeleland

NTABAZINDUNA — The Zimbabwe Prisons and Correctional Service (ZPCS) has launched a Men’s Forum for the Matabeleland region to promote gender balance and social responsibility.

The launch, held on April 14 at the ZPCS Ntabazinduna Training School, drew more than 800 men from Matabeleland North, South, and Bulawayo Metropolitan provinces.

Commissioner-General Dr Moses Cyril Ngawaite Chihobvu said the initiative seeks to promote responsibility among officers.

“This initiative aims to instill a sense of social responsibility in our officers, including encouraging sustainable income-generating projects that can support their families, and promoting good communication within families,” he said.

He urged officers to improve their academic qualifications and warned against drug and substance abuse.

Commissioner for Gender Services, Human Resources, Administration and Development, Sikhulekile Ndlovu, said the forum supports efforts to balance representation in appointments and roles.

“ZPCS appointed two males and two females as Deputy Commissioner-Generals, which is a clear demonstration of our dedication to gender equality,” she said.

Senior officers, including Deputy Commissioner-General (Support Services) Manetswa Christina Manhivi and Commissioner Hardy January Kakoroza, responsible for Infrastructure, Production and Development, attended the event alongside provincial commanders and the Ntabazinduna Training School Commandant, Assistant Commissioner Doreen Sithokozile Shoko.

A discussion session allowed officers to share challenges and seek guidance from senior officials and guest speaker Pastor Dr Mybin Chamuka, who spoke on family communication and financial management.
