A Chinese national has been arrested for reportedly fondling a female passenger while aboard an Emirates Flight en route to Zimbabwe from Dubai.
The 52-year-old, Li Youbin, was arrested upon arrival at Robert Gabriel Mugabe International Airport.
In a statement, the National Prosecuting confirmed that Lin allegedly indecently assaulted a female passenger on Emirates flight EK713 from Dubai on November 21.
It is reported that the incident began around 9 am (Dubai time) while the two were seated together, with the complainant by the window.
The accused allegedly attempted to initiate a conversation, and when the complainant declined, he proceeded to touch her thighs and buttocks, leading her to scream for help.
She immediately alerted the flight attendants, who secured her safety until landing.
Upon landing in Harare around 5 pm, the matter was reported to ZRP RGM Airport, leading to Li’s arrest.
Authorities have opposed bail, arguing that the accused is a flight risk.
Investigations are expected to be completed by December 1.
