The Avenues Clinic has honoured 53 of its doctors from different specialties.
The doctors ranged from Physicians, urologists, Neuro Surgeon, Paediatrician, Onocologist, Obstetrician & Gynae, Cadio-thoratic Surg, General Surgeon, Anaesthetist and Casualty.
Speaking during the Annual 4th Edition Doctors’ Appreciation Cocktail on Thursday, The Avenues Clinic General Manager Sibusisiwe Ndhlovu hailed the doctors.
“Every year, we gather to celebrate and recognise the unwavering dedication of doctors across various disciplines who tirelessly serve in our hospital.
“Their commitment to excellence and patient care is the foundation of our success as a hospital, and tonight, we honor you. This year, we are running with the mantra “Getting It Right the First Time.”
“This speaks to our shared commitment—your commitment as doctors to delivering accurate diagnoses and effective treatments, and our commitment as a hospital to ensuring that the environment, resources, and systems in place support you in delivering the best patient outcomes, right the first time.
“The road is long and maybe winding, but there is nothing concerted effort cannot address. We will definitely get it right the first time.
“Your hard work, expertise, and sacrifices are appreciated.”
She said, the appreciation event is a testament to the deep respect and gratitude we have for you.
“As a hospital, we continue to improve our infrastructure and services to support your work and enhance patient care.
“We are making steady progress with gradual infrastructure improvements aimed at improving our facilities, ensuring that both our patients and healthcare professionals have a world-class environment.
“Additionally, we have been investing in cutting-edge medical equipment, including the newly acquired Cavitron Ultrasonic Surgical Aspirator (CUZA) machine, which will play a pivotal role in improving patient outcomes.
“Those who work in the theatres understand that this is a piece of medical equipment, several key benefits among them being improved precision, reduced blood loss, and faster operating times.
“These advancements align with our goal of win win partnerships which ensures that we collectively provide the best clinical outcomes for our patients.
“Once again, I want to express my heartfelt gratitude to each and every one of you. Your dedication and expertise are the heartbeat of this institution, and we are truly privileged to work alongside you.
“Enjoy the evening and let this be a moment not only of appreciation but also of strengthening our partnerships as we continue to inspire healthier communities together but ensuring good clinical outcomes,” she said.
Professor Godfrey Ignatius Muguti, The Avenues Clinic Medical Director also applaud the doctors.
“I am pleased to have you all here this evening for the fourth edition of our annual Doctors’ Appreciation Cocktail.
This event is a significant one for us as Medical Investments Limited because it allows us to acknowledge and celebrate the incredible work done by our doctors across various specialties.
“As you might know, the hospital turns 42 years this year and over the years, we have witnessed great success as a hospital, and much of this success is attributed to the strong partnership we have with you—our doctors.
“Your commitment, dedication, and the time you invest in our hospital to care for patients is invaluable. It is because of you that we continue to provide exceptional healthcare and deliver positive patient outcomes.
“We have made significant strides in acquiring state-of-the art technology. I would like to just highlight some of the other few fascinating pieces of equipment that we have invested in, within our hospital that are assisting us in delivering the exceptional care that we rightly aim for: First, our laparoscopic towers in the theatres have revolutionized our surgical procedures.
“These towers enable minimally invasive surgeries that not only reduce the length of hospital stays but also contribute to quicker recoveries and better overall outcomes for our patients.
“In our neonatal unit, we introduced Giraffe incubators—state-of-the-art equipment designed to provide the optimal environment for our tiniest patients.
“With these incubators, we have witnessed remarkable success, with premature babies born as early as 24 to 26 weeks defying international survival odds.
“One memorable case involved a mother who stayed with us for two months, ultimately delivering at 27 weeks, with both mother and baby progressing well.
“These successes underscore our commitment to advancing neonatal care. In addition, our emergency unit has benefited from the integration of a mobile ventilator.
“This device allows our trauma-trained doctors to deliver critical respiratory support quickly, ensuring that patients in urgent need receive timely care without the delays often associated with transferring them to the ICU. Each of these investments reflects our unwavering dedication to excellence in healthcare.
“By continually enhancing our technological capabilities, we are not only improving clinical outcomes but also providing our dedicated medical teams with the tools they need to deliver outstanding care.
“Surgical Success & Medical Oversight: Our surgical teams have consistently maintained an impressive success rate, a testament to the skill, dedication, and precision of the surgeons in this room tonight.
“Your expertise has transformed countless lives, and we deeply appreciate your contributions. Post-operatively, our nursing teams have provided exceptional care, working hand in hand with you to ensure the best possible patient outcomes.
“As we strive for continuous improvement, we are committed to measuring key clinical metrics to gain strategic and clinical insights that drive excellence,” he said.
Prof Muguti said:
“This year, you will witness significant steps in that direction as we work together to enhance patient care.
“I am sure we have all been moved by the patient testimonials shared in the videos at the start of the program, and there are more to come later this evening.
“These stories of healing and improved quality of life are a powerful reminder of the impact we make. They define our purpose and reaffirm our commitment to excellence in healthcare.
“Beyond the operating rooms and wards, we also take clinical governance seriously.
“Our Medical Audit Committee plays a crucial role in reviewing and discussing clinical matters with objectivity and precision.”
