A 20-year-old man who broke into a 65-year-old woman’s home before raping her slept immediately after committing the heinous act.
The man, Emanuel Mahachi from Chief Chitsa area in Gutu, appeared before the Rusape Magistrates’ Court for rape.
He was slapped with 18 years effective in jail.
It was proved that on September 27, Emanuel went to the complainant’s homestead in Chief Chitsunge area of Buhera.
He broke a window to gain entry.
The complainant screamed for help but no one came to her rescue.
He then forcibly grabbed the complainant’s neck and instructed her to follow his orders before he raped her.
The accused person fell asleep after the act before the complainant took the opportunity to inform the neighbours that there was a stranger in her house.
She also wanted to advise the neighbours that she had been raped.
He was then apprehended leading to his arrest.
