The Zimbabwe National Table Soccer (ZNTS) team will be participating at the African Table Soccer Championship in Cotonou, Benin from November 15 to 17.
The country’s top five players Douglas Matambanashe, Richard Choto, Luka Ngwarati, Noel Justin, and Sonny Sivare are expected to represent Zimbabwe at the tournament.
Table soccer popularly known as slug has been played as a professional game in Zimbabwe for past few years now.
Zimbabwe Table Soccer Association (ZTSA) president Coxwell Chigwanha said the team is ready for the tournament and they are hoping for the championship title.
The team has earned sponsorship from a number of local sponsors with Better Brands being the main sponsor.
Better Brands has promised to give the team US$ 40,000.00.
At the last tournament Matambanashe received US$1,000 from Scott Sakupwanya.

“Zimbabwe is expected to cruise through the qualifying rounds to the knockout stages where the predatory Congolese National team awaits them.
“West African giants, Cameroon powered by their star player Bissogo are also a threat to Zimbabwe, although in Chrispine Mutsadyanga, this country has potent power and depth in talent to prevail.
“The team is all set for the championship and was lucky to have been promised sponsorship by their usual sponsors Betta Brands who have single handedly through their powerful owner Scott Sakupwanya grown the sport from a leisure sport into a national game.
“Five years ago we never thought the sport will be this popular foosball is now a form of employment; you can win a lot of money,” he said.
CAFTA is set to hold the ordinary general assembly where new leaders are to be elected to steer the federation for the next five years.
