City Council takes action against bottle-stores finally after residents’ complaints regarding the proliferation of bottle stores in the city centre.
The bottle stores have been causing chaos and unsanitary conditions.
In a statement, the city fathers said they have vowed to take action against these establishments.
They also said they have been operating beyond the regulated 8 pm closing time, harassing residents, using the streets as toilets, and blocking traffic.
“The lawlessness brought about by the mushrooming of bottle stores in our streets must come to an end.
“We are aware that some of these businesses have expired licenses, and when they come up for renewal, they will be required to justify their existence.”
The council has promised to make it difficult for bottle store operators to obtain business licenses, and those without valid licenses will be shut down.
The city urged residents to come forward with any complaints against these establishments, assuring that action will be taken.
“This move is aimed at restoring order and cleanliness to the city, and residents are hopeful that the council will finally address this long-standing issue”, he added.
