CHINHOYI- A Chinhoyi police officer has landed himself in hot soup after he fatally shot a suspect.
Talent Mabvuwo (36) appeared before the Chinhoyi Magistrates’ Court facing charges of murder.
He was remanded in custody until May 28.
The now deceased in this case is Douglas Sivaminyile.
On May 9, Talent along with Constable Madhuku and Constable Chireya went to the now-deceased’s home.
They were investigating a crime involving the now deceased.
Douglas was suspected of having assaulted someone.
It is the State’s case Talent was armed with a ZRP P1 service pistol loaded with four rounds.
The police got into the now-deceased’s home and began searching for the deceased.
During the search, the accused person heard some movements coming from the now deceased’s bedroom whose makeshift zinc door was closed.
He subsequently fired four rounds at the door without warning the now deceased.
The bullets went through the door and struck the now deceased twice, once on the left side of the chest and once on the right palm.
The now-deceased died instantly.
