Lethabo Maleka,24, from Ga-Mphahlele, who lost his sight at the age of 10 after being attacked by a spitting cobra inside a pit toilet, has graduated Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Laws [LLB] from the University of Limpopo.
The venom affected his eyes, and over time, his vision deteriorated until he became completely blind.
Lethabo’s journey is one of remarkable courage and determination.
Having lost his sight at the age of 10 following a cobra encounter, he went on to excel academically, becoming one of the country’s top 20 matric achievers at Setotolwane Secondary School in 2021.
Guided by a clear sense of purpose, he pursued a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) at the University of Limpopo, driven by a commitment to ensuring equal access to legal services for vulnerable and underserved communities.
A dedicated and inspiring student of the Reakgona Disability Centre, Maleka has now graduated Cum Laude with his LLB.
This outstanding achievement reflects not only academic excellence but resilience, discipline, and an unwavering belief in his goals.
