Today marks exactly a month after business tycoon Wicknell Chivayo and his wife Lucy Muteke died in a helicopter crash.
The couple died along with Saneliswe Magagula (32), Lucy’s personal aide and former security officer, Captain Calvin Tafirei Soda – Air Force of Zimbabwe pilot, and Captain Courage Mutavirwa – Co-pilot.
Initial reports varied slightly on the total number of occupants, but official police confirmation from the Zimbabwe Republic Police verified that five people were on board the aircraft when it went down near Kudenga Farm in Marondera rural on September 30.
The couple’s funeral took the limelight and was laid to rest side by side at Glen Forest Memorial Park in Harare on October 8, 2026.
