A reckless motorist reportedly ran over a 16-year-old girl before he fled the scene and rammed into a property and hit three people, where a two-year-old boy died on the spot.
The incident occurred on February 3, along Chirammbanhuyo Road, Unit D, Chitungwiza.
Police confirmed the arrest of Forget Chamuzambara (40) in connection with a fatal road traffic accident.
The suspect, who was driving a Mazda 323 vehicle, allegedly struck a 16-year-old girl who was walking on the roadside.
After the collision, the suspect fled the accident scene and, in the process, he lost control of the vehicle and crashed through the gate of a residential property, hitting three people, a 75-year-old woman and two children who were seated near the gate.
As a result of the crash, a two-year-old boy died on the spot, while the woman and the other child sustained severe head injuries.
The victim’s body was taken to Chitungwiza Hospital mortuary for post-mortem examination, while the three injured victims were referred to Chitungwiza Hospital for medical treatment.
