Afro-dancehall musician Freeman HKD will release his 14th studio album “Peace” on Friday ahead of the third edition of the HKD Festival at Glamis Arena in Harare on Saturday.
The album focuses on the importance of peace in communities, countries and people’s lives.
Freeman said he hoped the songs would encourage listeners to reflect on their lives and the need to find peace within themselves.
“The upcoming album is called Peace. The main message I am trying to portray through the album is the importance of peace.
“Peace in our communities, peace in our countries and, most importantly, peace within ourselves. Sometimes the heart itself needs peace,” he said.
The release adds to Freeman’s music catalogue, which includes 14 studio albums and an EP released in 2020.
The musician said his work reflected years of hard work, consistency and growth in the music industry.
He also said the preparations for the HKD Festival are underway, with him promising a better organised event this year.
He said the organisers had learnt from the first two editions and were working to improve stage management, crowd control and the overall running of the festival.
“We have learnt a lot from the first and second editions, including what worked and what needed improvement.
“This time around, we are putting more focus on stage management, crowd management and the overall running of the event,” he said.
The festival, set for October 24 at Glamis Arena, will feature musicians from different genres.
The line-up includes Holy Ten, Daruler HKD, Guspy Warrior, Nisha Ts, Jnr Spragga, Feli Nandi, Baba Harare, Delroy Shewe, Xiba, Sane Wav, Nutty O, Queen Kadijah, Blot, Enzo Ishall, Seh Calaz, Hulengende, Nyasha David and Black Warrior.
InTotal Band will also perform, bringing live band music to the event.
