Zimdancehall star Winky D has praised younger musicians for bringing their own styles and ideas to the local music industry.
In an interview with Nigerian publication Deeds Magazine, the musician said he admired the younger generation’s ability to express themselves through music rather than simply copying those who came before them.

Winky D also mentioned Killer T, the late Soul Jah Love and Enzo Ishall as artists who have contributed to the growth of Zimbabwean music in different ways.
He said the three musicians came from different stages of the genre’s development and had their own styles and ways of telling stories.
The Disappear hitmaker said that the changes in recording and music distribution had given artists new ways of reaching their fans.
However, he said musicians needed to remain connected to the communities and experiences that inspire their music.
