Government has proposed the banning of tinted windows on all vehicles with the exception of VIP and security vehicles, a stance aimed at fighting increasing crimes.
This was revealed by the permanent secretary for Presidential Affairs and Devolution, Tafadzwa Muguti, who was addressing the media over the Government’s stance on drugs.
“All provinces enforce a complete ban on private vehicles and public transporters having tinted windows on their vehicles.
“This will be except for government VIPs and security vehicles or those manufactured with standard shades of tints.
This follows the increase in crime in transportation vehicles, especially mushika shuka, by armed robbers and other criminals.
and also the recent rape of a grade 7 girl in an omnibus, so we will not be allowing any commuters in omnibuses to have tints.
Tinted windows are not allowed on public vehicles, and all of those who have tints, where police will not be able to see the people driving or passengers.
“Please remove your tinted windows immediately, or people will do that for you, or they will be impounded.
