A CID Homicide cop was shot dead by suspected armed robbers while pursuing them in Bulawayo.
The incident occurred in Bulawayo where Detective Constable Cassandra Hove died.
In a statement, national police spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi confirmed the incident.
“The Zimbabwe Republic Police confirms that investigations are being conducted in connection with the tragic and unfortunate death of Detective Constable Cassandra Hove.
“He is from CID Homicide Bulawayo.
“The incident occurred on March 6 while pursuing armed robbery suspects.
“The shooting incident occurred at Harbek area, Pumula South, Bulawayo.”
Meanwhile, the Commissioner-General of Police Stephen Mutamba has expressed condolences to the Hove family.
“He assures the public that comprehensive investigations are underway to establish what actually transpired,” said Commissioner Nyathi.
Meanwhile, the Zimbabwe Republic Police reiterates that there is no going back in the fight against armed robberies and other violent crimes in the country.
