The Ministry of Health and Child Care has recorded 15 deaths from snake bites from a cumulative figure of 3 539.
This was revealed through the Ministry’s Disease Surveillance Report for the week ending November 22.
“122 snake-bite cases and no deaths were reported this week.
“The cumulative figures for snakebites are 3 539 cases and 15 deaths.”
Meanwhile, the surveillance report for the week ending November, 24 recorded 719 dog bite cases, and no deaths were reported.
“146 (20.3%) of these cases were bitten by vaccinated dogs,112(15.6%) by unvaccinated dogs and 461 (64.1%) by dogs of unknown status.
“The highest number of dog bite cases reported this week were from Mashonaland East Province (136) and Masvingo Province (118).
“The cumulative figures for dog bites are 24 536 cases and 0 deaths.”
