The much-anticipated theatre play ‘The Aftermath’ is set to be premiered in Mutare at Courtauld Theatre from May 22 to 25.
the show starts at 6 pm.
“The Aftermath” is a play that explores the devastating effects of denied choices through a family tragedy.
The production was directed by Norbert Makoche and the cast features Jasen Mphepo, Munashe Goromonzi, Farirai Clarence Borerwe, Shingirai Manyengavana, and Tapiwa Mutekede.
In a recent interview, Tapiwa Mutekede expressed what drew him to ‘The Aftermath’ and what makes his role special.
“As an actor, what drew me to “The Aftermath” is its compelling story.
“The script explores complex themes and human emotions in a way that resonates deeply with me.
‘’Additionally, the opportunity to work with such a talented and passionate team of artists involved in the production is truly special,” said Mutekede.
Mutekede shared his character story, and what he hopes the audience will take away from the character’s journey.
”My character in “The Aftermath” is named Jude, a Lawyer who has experienced the challenges and consequences of health-related policies,” highlighted Mutekede.
Mutekede highlighted how the rehearsal process has been, the challenges, and the best memorable moments.
”The rehearsal process for “The Aftermath” has been intense but incredibly rewarding.
‘’We have a dedicated and talented cast and crew, and together we have faced various challenges head-on,” he said.
Mutekede emphasized that what sets the play apart is its boldness in tackling relevant social issues.
“What sets “The Aftermath” apart from other plays is its boldness in tackling relevant social issues.
‘’The play explores themes of safe abortion rights and comprehensive sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR).
‘’By addressing these topics, the play sparks important conversations and encourages a deeper understanding of the complexities involved.
‘’People should come to see it because it offers a unique opportunity to engage with these important issues in a compassionate and thought-provoking way.”
Mutekede shared his excitement about performing in Mutare.
“Performing in Mutare is a unique and exciting experience.
