A man from Glen View 3 reportedly died at Sally Mugabe Hospital on Wednesday after he allegedly ingested rat poison in what is being treated as a suspected suicide case.
The incident has left neighbours shocked following another mystery death surrounding a couple in the same neighbourhood.
The man, whose identity could not be established immediately, reportedly fell ill after consuming the poison.
He was rushed to the hospital, where he died on arrival.
Close sources said the circumstances surrounding his death remain unclear.
However, neighbours said he had recently been experiencing problems in his marriage.
Some neighbours claimed that the man’s elder brother had given him US$180, but that he allegedly spent the money before his death.
They also alleged that the man had been having problems with his wife, Keisha, whom he accused of cheating.
One neighbour said the man assaulted his wife following their dispute, prompting her to report the matter to the police.
“He was supposed to report to the police after the assault. He was also accusing his wife of cheating,” the neighbour said.
Another neighbour said the man often complained that his wife only loved him when he had money.
“He used to say things were good between them when he had money, but they would change when he had nothing,” the neighbour said.
However, neighbours said the couple appeared to be on good terms shortly before the incident. A day before his death, the man was reportedly seen at a local shopping centre enjoying a braai with his wife and friends.
He also reportedly attended the funeral of his neighbours, Nyasha Mhungu and his wife, Olga Muzhingi, who died in their bedroom.
The couple was found dead in their bedroom after reportedly seeking counselling from their church leader only hours earlier.
