A scooter killed a two-month old baby before injuring several learners and teachers following brake failure.
The ZRP confirms the accident which occurred on May 29, at around 12 pm at private school in Village 8, Chikuti, Karoi.
“An unregistered DSM scooter towing a trailer loaded with suspected gold ore reportedly reversed uncontrollably after experiencing brake failure before crashing into an unfinished classroom block where a teacher, learners and an infant were present.
“Subsequently, a two-month-old baby girl died at the scene after being trapped beneath the scooter and falling debris.
“Eight learners sustained injuries and were admitted at Karoi District Hospital, while two of the injured learners were later transferred to Chinhoyi Provincial Hospital for further treatment.”
