A man has been jailed for 20 years after raping a 19-year-old form 3 learner with mental instability.
The rapist appeared before Chinhoyi Magistrates’ Court, where he was convicted of the crime.
The 26-year-old Banket man, on March 4 last year, at Country Club, Banket, who has a hearing and speech impairment, followed the complainant to a maize field as she walked to a local secondary school.
He intercepted her, dragged her into the field and raped her.
After the ordeal, the complainant went to school.
The offence came to light after the victim confided in her friends, leading her mother to escort her to file a police report.
