The world of comedy is vast and demands creativity.
In Zimbabwe, two young and energetic comedians stand out, Comic Elder, born Leroy Tadiwanashe Zaware, and Sean Khoza, known as Tokoloshi of Code Red Studios.

Both are rising stars in the Zimbabwean comedy scene, gaining popularity through their engaging performances and skits posted on social media.

In October 2025, Comic Elder received the Best Comedy Award at a Youth Empowerment Symposium in Harare.
The award was presented by President Emmerson Mnangagwa, who also announced that he would gift Comic Elder a brand-new Ford Raptor.

Just a few days later, businessman Wicknell Chivayo generously gave him $150,000 to help him purchase a house, stating that he was motivated to do so because Comic Elder had made the president laugh.

Fast forward to the National Merit Awards (NAMA), where Comic Elder was nominated in the Outstanding Social Media Skits category, alongside Tokoloshi and Ronald Chimombe, also known as Thugga Thugga.
All three are incredibly talented and creative, with a strong sense of humour.
However, Comic Elder walked away empty-handed, while Tokoloshi emerged as the winner.
In every competition, there is a winner and a loser, and sometimes, the outcome reflects various considerations.
Just as in academics or sports, where statistics and qualities determine the top performer, the same is true for Comic Elder and Tokoloshi.
Despite the results, many followers voiced their discontent, arguing that Comic Elder deserved to win.
They also acknowledged Tokoloshi’s merit and expressed similar sentiments for Thugga Thugga.
Ultimately, the rivalry between Comic Elder and Tokoloshi highlights not only their individual talents but also the broader landscape of comedy in Zimbabwe, an arena rich with creativity, education, humour, and innovation.
