A 20-year-old domestic worker has been sentenced to an effective 30 years for raping his employer’s seven-year-old child twice.
The suspect appeared before Mutare Regional Magistrates’ Court, facing two counts of rape of the victim in Odzi.
It was proved that on December 13, last year, in Chief Marange area, the offender was employed by the victim’s father.
They resided at the same homestead as the victim, and she targeted the Grade 2 student while she was alone in the dining room watching television.
He entered the house, undressed before ordering the victim to do the same.
She resisted, and he threatened her before forcing her onto a sofa where he raped her.
The crime was uncovered the following day when the victim’s sister noticed she was struggling to walk and urinate.
Upon questioning, the victim disclosed the abuse.
Bloodstains were later found on her clothing.
