At least three people have died as a result of dog bites from over 22,000 recorded cases, the Ministry of Health has revealed.
In its Weekly Disease Report for the week ending October 26, the Ministry of Health and Child Care confirmed that 602 cases and one death were reported.
“The death was reported from Gwanda District (1) in Matabeleland South Province.
“Of the reported cases, 102 (16.9%) were bitten by vaccinated dogs, 124 (20.6%) by unvaccinated dogs, and 376 (62.5%) by dogs of unknown status.
“The highest number of dog bite cases were reported from Midlands Province (90) and Mashonaland West Province (89).
“The cumulative figures for dog bites are 22,953 cases and 3 deaths.”
