Police confirmed the arrest of Harare City Council officials for negligently causing the death of three victims who drowned in a sewage pool in Budiriro.
In a statement, national police spokesperson, Commissioner Paul Nyathi, confirmed the arrest of four officials.
“We confirm the arrest of four Harare City council officials, Engineer Tapiwa Richard Kunyadini (58), Moses Dicko (57), Thomas Rwakatiwana (52) and Tineyi Chihwai (41) for negligently causing the death of the three victims through their action of omission and commission leading to the tragic incident,” he said.
Commissioner Nyathi also confirmed the names of the victims.
“The Zimbabwe Republic Police release the names of the victims who were positively identified by their next of kin as listed: –
“Saul Karakadzai (19), male, of New Stands, Budiriro 3 Extension, Harare.
“Talita Munda (17), female, of New Stands, Budiriro 3 Extension, Harare.
“Vimbanashe Shalom Chihota (34), male, of New Stands, Budiriro 3 Extension, Harare.
“The Zimbabwe Republic Police extends its deepest condolences to the bereaved families.”
