A Bikita Early Childhood Development (ECD) has been arrested and brought before the court for allegedly sucking blood from two pupils.
The 51-year-old appeared before Masvingo Magistrates’ Court, charged with two counts of assault.
She was remanded in custody until June 30, pending finalization of investigations.
Allegations are that between May 20 and June 5, at a Primary School in Chief Budza, the accused sucked blood from two pupils.
The matter came to light when one of the children’s parents was bathing their child and noticed some wounds on the fingers.
This shocking act was allegedly carried out without the knowledge of the children’s parents or school authorities.
The child narrated the ordeal, leading the parent to approach the school for an explanation and similar reports were received.
The purpose behind taking the blood remains unknown.
