The  Minister of Information Communication Technology, Postal and Courier Services, Tatenda Mavetera has urged students to take innovation and entrepreneurship seriously for the betterment of the country.
She was speaking during the ongoing Zimbabwe International Trade Fair (ZITF) in Bulawayo.
Posting on her Facebook Page, Minister Mavetera hailed stakeholders for contributing towards a digital economy.
“I would like to thank all stakeholders who graced the 2nd edition of the Digital Economy Conference at the ZITF in Bulawayo.
“An array of topics were dissected by industry leaders from both the public and private sectors.
“Participants had a fair share of time to ask the burning questions on matters that cover cybersecurity, connectivity ,and regulations.
“As the ministry, we are committed to be at par with other progressive nations.
“As of today, there are 120 5G base stations across the country and we desire to increase this number in the near future.
“With strong connectivity comes more benefits in terms of innovation, efficiency, and productivity.”
She said, there is need for proper use of innovation hubs.
“The academia weighed in on the issue of talent identification, proper use of innovation hubs, and full capacitation.
“Students are encouraged to take innovation and entrepreneurship seriously.
“Digitilization is here for the betterment of our nation,” she said.
