An Epworth man survived electrocution with severe burns before he was arrested at the scene.
His accomplices disappeared and are still on the run.
Being Chamba (18) appeared before the Harare Magistrates’ Court for contravening the Electricity Act.
In a statement, the National Prosecuting Authority (NPAZ) confirmed that on April 4, Being and his accomplices, who are still at large broke into a Zesa sub-station in Cranborne, Harare, with the intention to steal Zesa amoured cables.
The accused person, who was leading the team, cut the Zesa electricity armoured cable, he was electrocuted and fell down.
The offender sustained severe burns.
He was discovered by local residents who then notified authorities.
A police report was made, and the accused person was taken tothe hospital.
He was remanded while in hospital.
