Police have launched an investigation into a robbery case in which around 20 armed men pounced on a local farm and disappeared with over US$ 70,000 and other valuables.
The incident occurred early Tuesday morning.
It is reported that on 18 March 2025 at around 0100 hours, one of the three security guards who were manning Alpha and Omega farm was grabbed by one of the accused persons.
Suddenly, he noticed about 19 unknown male accused persons who were armed with 3 rifles, 2 pistols, 2 bolt cutters, machetes, and iron bars approaching him.
He was reportedly manhandled and assaulted with iron bars and booted feet all over his body demanding to be directed to where other security guards were deployed.
Accused persons then tied the complainant’s hands from behind and his legs using tyre cables.
They then force-marched him into the yard where they manhandled another security guard and disarmed him a shotgun before tying his hands from behind.
The two security guards were then force-marched to the front guardroom where they manhandled and tied on both hands and legs before striking him several times on the head with iron bars.
Two of the security guards were left under guard of 2 accused persons who were armed with a pistol and an iron bar whilst the accused persons escorted one of the security guards to the main house.
On approaching the main entrance, the accused persons cut the key on the burglar screen with a bolt cutter, forced open the main door and entered into the house.
Whilst inside, accused persons forced open the kitchen door and marched towards a spare bedroom for one of the occupants.
They demanded cash and he surrendered cash US $18 000-00, pistol loaded with rounds and two cellphones.
The accused persons then demanded to be led to the safe.
On their way they passed through another bedroom where they robbed another US $ 1 100-00 cash, safe keys and a cellphone.
The accused persons further proceeded to the main bedroom where one of the occupants was coerced to open the safe and surrendered cash US $ 55 000-00.
Whilst the accused persons were still in the bedroom, the fourth security guard was alerted by the farm supervisor and rushed to the farm house.
Upon arrival, he reportedly fired 2 shots towards the accused persons who also fired back 3 shots and fled into the darkness.
The total value stolen is US $74 600-00 and nothing was recovered.
