A Bindura man has been jailed for 111 years in jailed for being convicted of six counts of rape and three counts of robbery.
The 38-year-old was hauled before Bindura Regional Magistrates’ Court, where he was jailed following horrifying crimes that involved terrorising women.
Luckmore Mazambani of Chakondora Village, Chief Madziwa, committed the crimes in the Mt Darwin and Madziwa areas of Mashonaland Central Province.
He brutally sexually assaulted his victims with extreme violence.
The offender was convicted of 6 counts of rape and 3 counts of robbery.
He was sentenced to 15 years on each count of rape and 12 years on each count of robbery resulting in the lengthy sentence.
Between January and December 2023, Mazambani embarked on a campaign of violence specifically targeting women who lived alone.
He would break into their homes, often under the cover of darkness, armed with weapons such as machetes and axe-handles.
Once inside he would subject his victims to a double horror, robbery and repeated brutal rapes.
He stole cash, cellphones, groceries, and other valuables.
