Two minor children drowned while collecting bird plums (nyii) from a disused pond.
The incident occurred in Mberengwa where a boy (4) and girl (9) drowned.
In a statement, police confirmed:
“The ZRP reports a sad incident in which a boy (4) and girl (9) drowned in a disused fish pond.
“The two were collecting bird plums at a deserted homestead at Maduveko Village, Mataga, Mberengwa on February 15.
“The incident occurred after some fruits fell into the fish pond resulting in the victims diving in the pond to retrieve them.”
