Trevor Dongo clarifies why 2023 album launch flopped

  1. Singer Trevor Dongo has publicly opened up on how and why his May 18, 2023 album launch, Seasons flopped.

The seasoned singer said, many people have been criticising him following the launch but he counted it as a win.

This was his first physical album launch in his 20 years plus in the industry.

He however, took the flop and criticism as part of his learning curve.

Posting on his Facebook Page, he said.

“I am here to address an issue about the low attendance at my album launch on the 18th of May 2024.

“Words in the streets were “Haa ku launch kwake kwakauya vanhu 8 because his music is not good.

“The attendance was bad because he didn’t engage certain people” etc.

“Let me tell you something that you didn’t know.

“In the past 20 plus years that I have been in the music industry I had never launched an album and it has always been on my to do list for the longest.

“I thank GOD for giving me the courage and grace to be able to do something that a lot of artist are afraid of doing that is organizing their own shows.

“When I thought of the idea of launching this album (SEASONS) I approached a lot of promoters and sponsors but none of them believed in my vision that’s when I decided to do it on my own,” he said.

Trevor, said despite som taking it as a flop, it was a win to him.

“It was a win because I managed to put up a show without the help of any sponsor or promoter.

“The only service provider akanzwisisa vision akabvuma kuita chip in was Rockers Island Media, they provided me with a state of the art sound system, stage and lighting.

“When I got a booking to go and perform in America,I took mari iyoyo and channeled it into my album launch because I’ve been dreaming of doing this for so many years.

“Tickets were made, tags, venue secured then when we were approaching the chosen date, certain promoters started pulling strings in trying to put at stop to this event thinking that maybe I had a financial muscle backing me up but little did they know kuti ndaitongoitawo izvi ndega nekuda kwekuti ndakashaya aida kubatsira.

“The day came and zveshuwawo the turn out wasn’t as expected but for me I felt like a winner because like I said I managed to do what some artists are scared of doing.”

He further after roping in a few industry colleagues, some failed to help.

“Vawe vakauya nemoyo yekuti wedu aita chake regai tisimbise despite the bad turn out and I would like to thank them nekuratidza rudo rwechokwadi. “That photo that was taken a few minutes before the event started was taken by a certain promoter akatanga kutenderedza kuti zita risvibe but I thank GOD nekuti chakakosha ndechekuti launch ndakaita for the first time and I didn’t back down despite the setbacks that I encountered along the way.

“After being trolled a month later, some producer/owner of a record label organized a launch at the same venue and unlike me,he had sponsors from the Diaspora.

“But surprisingly their event was cancelled on the day due to no attendance at all.

“Venue yakazonzi ine mbiri yekusauya vanhu asi inini ndakatenda Mwari kuti even though after sacrificing shoma isina kudzoka,I’m proud of myself for launching this Album.

“It might not seem like a lot but I won,Iam a Winner.

2025 we are removing the spirit of fear toita confident enough to take action in fulfilling our goals and visions.

Ari mauri mukuru.”
