Man fires warning shot at sex worker…refuses to pay for services

MASVINGO- A Masvingo man has been brought before the court for pointing a firearm at a sex worker after he refused to pay her.

Tafadzwa Magombedze was arraigned before the Masvingo Magistrates’ Court facing two counts of contravening the Firearms Act.

On the first count, he was charged with pointing a firearm, and on the second count, knowingly and without lawful cause discharging a firearm in or upon a public place”

He pleaded guilty to the charges and will be sentenced on Wednesday.

The complainant is a commercial sex worker.

On May 9, Tafadzwa engaged the services of the complainant.

It was proved that a dispute arose between the two when Tafadzwa refused to pay for the complainant’s services.

He alleged that she had stolen his money.

He drew out a pistol which he pointed at the complainant before firing a warning shot.

A report was made to the police leading to his arrest.

The Police searched the accused person and found him in possession of a Star Pistol.

The pistol had four live rounds of ammunition and one spent cartridge.

Investigations established that the Star Pistol was certified for the purposes of protection of cash and bullion in transit only.
