Thirty (30) Malawians who were arrested in Mbare, on Monday, after they allegedly failed to produce documents proving they were in the country legally have been fined US$50.
The arrest was effected by the Zimbabwe National Anti-Corruption Organization (ZINACO) in conjunction with the CID Terrorism.

National police spokesperson, Deputy Commissioner Paul Nyathi had earlier on confirmed the arrest.
However, an official from ZINACO said they also played a part in the arrest.
“We the ZINACO received the information from one of our members and we informed the Officer in Charge CID Terrorism.
“We sent two of our members there namely Matsekete O and Kwangware E accompanying the CID Terrorism Officers.
“They established that the illegal immigrants were there in Mbare National before they were arrested,” said a member.
“We have been investigating a certain case about illegal immigrants coming from Malawi going to South Africa for a while.
“And yesterday (Monday) we noticed that they had arrived and were kept at a certain house in Mbare.
“We then called the police CID Counter Terrorism to join hands with our members.
“The 30 were arrested on the spot and they were taken to Harare Central Police.
“As a commission, we have led to the arrest of these illegal immigrants.
“So we want our nation to know we are here for Zimbabwe and we always deliver,” added the member.
