Mutare youths in national clean-up initiative

Teen Rescue Mission Mutare (TRM) youths have taken up the national clean-up initiatives held every first Friday of every month.

The youths who participated last Friday demonstrated their commitment to cultivating a pristine environment.

They exhibited unwavering dedication in ensuring the cleanliness of Mutare, while concurrently advocating for the imperative message of abstaining from drugs.

It is also their aim to prevent early pregnancies and deter crime.

They managed to clean up the Government complex building, the main street which is Herbert Chitepo up to the bus rank and Meikles Park grounds.

Tawanda Moyana who is a TRM representative in Mutare said youths have to stand up in creating a clean environment.

“We are so grateful to our organisation TRM that has stepped up to represent us youths and teach us to be young people who are responsible with our lives and environment.

“As an organisation that fights drugs and substance abuse, early pregnancy, and crime.

“We feel it’s our responsibility as youths to clean our environment, as we are the future generation that will stand to be enjoying our clean environment.”

Juliet Zindi of TRM recommended girl child also take part in such initiatives.

“As a girl child today, I felt so much joy having the privilege of participating in this clean-up campaign.

“I felt that as a youth it’s my responsibility to keep my beloved city Mutare clean.”

While, Mufaro Chakonza appreciated the government for coming up with the clean-up initiative.

“We are grateful as Mutare youths for cleaning our city.

“As you all know this year’s Independence celebration is going to be hosted by Mutare and as a girl child and youth I feel grateful.”

Anesu Kelly Mutemera a youth also appreciated the efforts being put in by TRM.

“As a young boy in Mutare, I want to appreciate TRM for teaching us to stay away from drugs and be clean in our lives.

“Today we are demonstrating the aspect of us being clean from drugs and now being clean to our environment.

“Spending the day cleaning our town in Mutare has made me understand my responsibility.

“I urge youths out there that the environment is our future, let’s clean it as we say no to drugs.”

The youths appreciated the support they got from EMA.

Teen Rescue Mission youths also appreciated Zimbabwe Gender Commission Mutare and the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education for coming in support of the clean-up campaign.
