Zimbabweans across the globe have expressed mixed feelings following the introduction of the new structured currency, Zimbabwe Gold (ZiG) by the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe (RBZ).
The introduction is with effect from April 5.
Presenting the 2024 Monetary Policy, RBZ Governor John Mushayavanhu said, ZiG will be backed by reserves and royalties.
However, the new development seems not to have convinced Zimbabweans who are battling the effects of high inflation.
Some have described the new monetary policy as barbaric while some said the money has been named after Zig-Zag band.

This is the new Zimbabwean local currency unveiled today by the new central bank governor, John Mushayavanhu.
This new currency is called ZiG.
It has already been nicknamed Zigi Mari after reggae star Ziggy Marley🤣🤣🤣
