Mrs Universe Zimbabwe Atipa Busman made her mark at the Mrs Universe 2026 pageant in Sri Lanka finishing among the top 10 contestants.
As the first time representative for Zimbabwe Busuman was named the ninth runner-up at the international competition which attracted more than 120 delegates from different countries.
The main title went to Isidora Ranković, who represented Monaco and was crowned Mrs Universe 2026 at the 49th edition of the pageant held on October 24.
One of the highlights of Busuman’s participation was her cultural costume, titled Hungwe Huru: Guardian of Zimbabwe’s Wonders, which celebrated the country’s history, wildlife and natural attractions.
The design drew inspiration from the Hungwe, or fish eagle, which is linked to the Zimbabwe Bird, a national symbol of the country’s heritage.
It also featured references to the ancient stone structures of Great Zimbabwe and Khami Ruins, as well as wildlife found in Hwange and Gonarezhou national parks.
The Zambezi River and Victoria Falls, also known as Mosi-oa-Tunya, were included in the design to showcase Zimbabwe’s natural beauty.
Cowrie shells and beads represented the country’s natural wealth, while feathers symbolised the strength and resilience of its people.
The costume was created through a collaboration involving African creatives Jaspizy Welcome, African Fabric & Designs Kenya and Afro Aesthetics.
Busuman began her pageant journey as a teenager and won the Miss Personality title at the inaugural Miss Bulawayo Environment pageant in 2012, when she was 17.
She later built a career in fashion and creative work before returning to pageantry for the Mrs Universe Zimbabwe competition.
