Police have arrested three armed robbery suspects in connection with a series of armed robbery cases that occurred in Ruwa, Rusape and Harare.
The suspects are Tinei Makaripe (47), Pungurayi Mukumbachaza and Gabriel Mukambachaza (41).
In a statement, national police spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi said, on September,13 at around 0030 hours, the suspects and their accomplices, who are still at large, allegedly pounced on a company at Borders Estate, Ruwa.
They reportedly stole US$ 108 000 cash after attacking and restraining company workers.
As the suspects fled, Tinei Makaripe was apprehended by workers after falling to the ground while attempting to scale the perimeter wall. He was subsequently handed over to the police.
Further investigations by the detectives led to the arrest of Pungurai Mukumbachaza in Damofalls Phase 1, Harare, and the recovery of US$4 900, which had been hidden in the suspect’s vehicle.
The other suspect, Gabriel Mukambachaza, was arrested at his rural home in Rusape, where detectives recovered US$5 000, two pistols, a Star pistol loaded with one round and a Tokarev pistol loaded with seven rounds, as well as handcuffs, fuse cables, explosives and three balaclavas.
It was established that the recovered Tokarev pistol was stolen during an armed robbery incident at a steel company in Southerton on 12th March 2026.
The suspects are also being linked to four other armed robbery cases, including the one which occurred at a beverages company in Rusape on 26th January 2026 where US$ 39 828 cash, a Star pistol loaded with five rounds, pepper spray, handcuffs and three cellphones were stolen, and another robbery case which occurred on 12th March 2026 at a steel company along Tilbury Road, Southerton, Harare where US$ 14 118.00 cash was stolen.
“The suspects’ accomplices, identified as Khule Diva, Mambo Dhuterere, Kasongo and Senior Gama, are on the run.”
Meanwhile, the Zimbabwe Republic Police is appealing for information which may assist in the investigation of a murder and armed robbery case which occurred near a service station along JMN Nkomo Street, between Fourth and Third Avenue, Bulawayo on 14th September 2026.
“Three unidentified suspects shot the victim, Tadius Rutanhire (52), dead with a pistol before fleeing with his bag containing US$10 000.00.
The victim, who was a businessperson, had just closed his shop and was walking towards his son’s vehicle who had come to pick him.
