A Kadoma man has been jailed for 25 years after he invaded a home where a couple was sleeping before kidnapping the wife and raped her in a bushy area.
He also stole US$100.
Gazi, 28, appeared before Kadoma Magistrates’ Court, where he was convicted of armed robbery and rape.
He was sentenced to 5 years imprisonment for robbery and 20 years for rape, resulting in an effective 25-year custodial sentence.
On August 18, 2025, Gazi and his two accomplices, who are still at large, forcibly entered a couple’s home in Masendeke Compound, Battlefields, while armed with a machete.
He assaulted the male victim and stole US$100 before abducting the female victim to a nearby bush, where he raped her twice.
The victim later escaped and reported the matter to the police.
The offender was apprehended by members of the public at Chivaura Mine, and items of his clothing were recovered and admitted as evidence during the trial.
