Geo Pomona Waste Management has expressed its condolences following a fatal accident involving one of its trucks, which killed freelance journalist Judith Nyuke.
In a statement, the company’s PR and Marketing OfficerTendai Ngombe expressed sadness.
The accident which occurred along Harare Drive on Saturday afternoon around 3.30pm was confirmed by police.
“Geo Pomona is deeply saddened by this loss and extends its sincere condolences to the family, friends, colleagues and wider media community during this extremely difficult time.
“Our immediate thoughts are with the bereaved family and all those affected.
“We understand the pain and concern caused by this incident, and we are approaching the matter with the seriousness, care and respect it deserves.
“Geo Pomona takes this incident with the utmost seriousness.
“The company has initiated an internal review and is cooperating fully with the relevant authorities as they establish the circumstances surrounding the incident.
We are committed to ensuring that this process is handled responsibly, transparently and with due care for all those affected.
“We recognise the public concern that follows such a tragic incident, however, at this stage, and out of respect for the family’s privacy and the ongoing police investigation,Pomona Waste Geo Management (PVT) we will not provide further details until verified information is available.

“Out of respect for the deceased and the family, Geo Pomona is unable to name the journalist at this stage.
