A rapist father has been jailed for 17 years after he was convicted of raping his four-year-old daughter.
In a statement, National Prosecuting Authority of Zimbbwe, said the 31-year-old convicted father appeared before Mutare Magistrates’ Court, where he was sentenced to 20 years’ imprisonment, with three years suspended for five years on condition of good behaviour, leaving him to serve an effective seventeen years.
It was proved that on April 28, the victim, who resides with her maternal grandparents in a neighboring village, came to visit her family and found her father alone at home.
The offender took advantage of the situation and called the victim into his bedroom, where he raped her.
The offender then ordered the victim to return to her grandparents’ home.
The victim’s mother became concerned after noticing that the victim was experiencing difficulty walking.
Upon further inquiry, she discovered that the victim had been raped by her father.
The matter was reported to police, leading to the offender’s arrest.
