Police have revealed the face of an armed robber who shot and killed two police officers tracking him in Zaka.
The incident occurred on March 1, prompting a manhunt for the suspect.
Daniel Munyanyi (50) killed two police detectives around 5 am on March 1, at Ndume Village, Zaka, Masvingo.
“Police are appealing for information that may lead to the location and arrest of armed robbery and murder suspect Daniel Munyanyi (50) of Ndume Village, Chief Ndanga, Zaka, Masvingo,” stated a police spokesperson.
“The two detectives were part of a team tracking the suspect for armed robbery cases that occurred in Harare and the surrounding areas.
“More details regarding the murder of Detective Constables Bernard Chimbeke (37) and Mckenzie Chitsowe (43) will be released in due course.”
Following the incident, police have officially released photos of the wanted individual, Daniel.
“Anyone with information about his location should feel free to notify the police through the ZRP WhatsApp number 0712 800 197, the National Complaints Desk at (0242) 703 631, or any nearest police station.”
Meanwhile, Commissioner-General of Police Stephen Mutamba expresses his deepest condolences to the Chimbeke and Chitsowe families over this unfortunate incident and tragic loss.
