A king’s child is a servant in another land, says Olinda Chapel as she returns to UK

Socialite and businesswoman, Olinda Chapel, is back in the UK, where she stays after a brush with the law in Zimbabwe.

She was hauled to the Harare Magistrates’ Court, charged with cyberbullying, before the charges were withdrawn before plea.

Chapel had stood before the courts accused of bullying her partner, Desmond “Stunner” Chideme’s ex-wife, Dyonne Tafirenyika, in a Facebook live video.

She appeared before Harare magistrate Ruth Moyo, where the State informed the court that it would no longer be pursuing the case against her and formally withdrew the charges.

However, following her freedom, she is back in the UK, where she thanked the authorities.

“ I would like to thank the British Embassy who ensured that I had the right lawyer.

“Lenon, you did your job very well.

“I would like to thank Interpol Manchester, who were in constant communication with Interpol Zimbabwe. Carrying welfare checks.

“Thank you, CID cyber security. I would like to thank my family, my friends, and all those who kept on checking on us and prayed for us.

“Mwana wamambo muranda kumwe.

“Happy to be back in the Kingdom where we belong.

“Long Live the King.”

The State had alleged that on December 17, Chapel unlawfully and intentionally, by means of a Facebook live broadcast, generated and shared a video in which she shouted at Tafirenyika, calling her a prostitute.

It was further alleged that Chapel posted the video on a social media platform accessible to the public, with the intention to intimidate, harass, threaten, bully, or cause substantial emotional distress, as well as to degrade, humiliate, or demean Tafirenyika.

Mr Lawrence Gangarahwe appeared for the State.
