Malaria kills 8 in Zim in one week

Eight people have died as a result of Malaria outbreak across this week, with a cumulative figure of 52 deaths recorded countrywide.

A cumulative figure of 19,278 cases have been recorded

In a statement, the Ministry of Health and Child Care said, 3,304 cases & 8 deaths were reported this week.

“The deaths were reported from Mutare District 2, Chimanimani District 1, UMP 1, Makonde District 1, Sanyati District 1, Mpilo Hosp 1 & Sally Mugabe 1.

“321 cases were from under 5 years.

“The provinces that reported the highest cases were Mani (1,939) & Mash Central (484). Cumulative figures are 19,278 & 52 deaths.”

Meanwhile, six deaths have been recorded from snake bites.

“147 snake-bite cases & 2 deaths were reported this week.

“The deaths were reported from Bindura District (1) and Chegutu District (1).

“Cumulative figures for snake-bites are 1,686 cases & 6 deaths.”
