Police are investigating a case in which a Gokwe woman was gang raped by three men before they took her valuables after they had offered her a job on WhatsApp.
The incident occured on September 1, and the suspects are yet to be identified.
In a statement, police urged members of the public to exercise caution when responding to unsolicited job offers or engaging with strangers on social media and to verify the identities.
Police also urged for identification of credentials of individuals offering employment or other services.
“The warning follows a robbery and rape incident that occurred in Kuwadzana on 14/09/26, involving a 27-year-old woman from Gokwe who had been offered a job by strangers through a “WhatsApp group.
“The woman travelled to Harare after receiving the job offer and was instructed to proceed to Kuwadzana, where she was allegedly robbed of her valuables and gang raped by three men. “Police are conducting comprehensive investigations to identify and apprehend the suspects.”
