A Rural Infrastructure Development Agency (RIDA) District Clerk and Acting Head has been remanded in custody after he appeared before Kariba Magistrates Courts’ charged with culpable homicide.
Ignatious Chiome, who oversees administrative and operational logistics for the ferry, appeared in court this Wednesday, where he was remanded in custody.
The state alleges that there were administrative negligence, severe vessel overloading, and operational safety lapses which contributed to the disaster, which claimed 97 lives with 77 survivors.
