Zim businessman, Chivayo charms Kenyan President Ruto

It seems Zimbabwean businessman and philanthropist, Wicknell ‘Sir Wicknell’ Chivayo, has charmed Kenyan President William Samoei Ruto.

The businessman and his wife Lulu were enjoying their best moments with the President after he was chauffeured by the President as well as having lunch together.

He first had the honour to spend a moment with the President’s family.

He also interacted with some government officials.

In a thankful statement on his Facebook Page, Chivayo reflected on his moments in the Eastern country.

“It was an incredible and truly eye-opening Sunday afternoon I had with His Excellency President William Samoei Ruto before leaving Kenya.

“I had gone to say goodbye briefly, but what was supposed to be a simple farewell turned again into an unforgettable afternoon.

“After having lunch, His Excellency personally took time to drive me around his farm and show me the different agricultural projects he is undertaking; I was truly amazed and genuinely impressed.

“Beyond being the President of the Republic of Kenya, President Ruto is an accomplished and passionate FARMER.

“From the beautiful macadamia plantations, to maize production, cattle ranching with more than 3,000 sheep which, among other things, naturally help manage the grass around the macadamia trees.”

He hailed President Ruto as a result-oriented farmer.

“Everything I saw reflected a different level of planning, discipline and result-oriented productivity.

“He spoke passionately about agriculture and food security, and you immediately realise that this is not merely government policy to him, farming and feeding his nation is something he practices himself.”

Chivayo also commended President Mnangagwa for consistently emphasising agriculture and food security, as well as encouraging practical farming.

He also likened President Mnangagwa’s spirit of resilience on national self-sufficiency as key pillars for safeguarding the future of his nation.

“From what I gathered, President Ruto’s farming interests extend across several farms, and the level of organisation is remarkable.

“What impressed me even more was the MAN himself, for the President of an amazing country to spend an afternoon having lunch with me, then again personally driving me around and patiently explaining his farming projects speaks volumes about his HUMILITY.

“President Ruto is incredibly hardworking, hands-on and passionate about DEVELOPMENT. “When you walk around a well-run farm and see how systematically everything has been put together, you begin to understand something about the mind behind it.

“Leadership is ultimately about the ability to ORGANISE people, resources and ideas towards a productive outcome.

“A country is obviously far more complex than any farm or company, but the principles of PLANNING, ACCOUNTABILITY, RESOURCE MANAGEMENT and EXECUTION remain important. When you see excellence in the smaller things a leader personally manages, it can tell you something about their approach to the bigger responsibilities entrusted to them.

“Thank you, Your Excellency President William Ruto, for your extraordinary hospitality, humility and priceless friendship.

“I left your farm with tremendous respect for your passion for AGRICULTURE and FOOD SECURITY.

“Kenya is blessed with enormous agricultural potential, and seeing its HEAD OF STATE AND GOVERNMENT personally passionate about farming was truly inspiring.”
