As Easter approaches, the United Family International Church (UFIC) has ushered in a new chapter for its Gweru congregation with the official opening of a new church building in the Mkoba/Woodlands area.
This was done during a ceremony aligned with the themes of resurrection, hope, and new beginnings that define the Easter season.
Prophetess Ruth Makandiwa presided over the opening, marking a significant milestone for the ministry’s expansion into the Midlands city.

The church, led by Emmanuel Makandiwa, continues to grow its footprint across Zimbabwe, with the Gweru branch set to serve a rapidly expanding congregation in the high-density suburbs of Mkoba and Woodlands.

Speaking at the launch, Prophetess Makandiwa emphasised that the new building symbolises more than just physical growth, describing it as a beacon of renewed faith and spiritual revival within the community.

“This is not just a structure, but a new beginning for the people of Gweru. It represents life, hope, and the power of resurrection,” she said.

UFIC spokesperson, Prime Kufa, highlighted the church’s mission to make worship more accessible by bringing it closer to the people.
“The importance of this development cannot be underestimated. Our prophet believes in taking the church to the people rather than expecting people to come to the church.
“This is a significant milestone for the people of Mkoba,” said Pastor Kufa.
He said that economic challenges often make it difficult for some congregants to travel long distances to attend services, making the new branch a practical and inclusive solution.
“It is not everyone who can afford transport, and for various reasons, some may fail to attend church. By establishing this branch, we are ensuring that more people have access to the word of God,” he said.
Pastor Kufa also underscored the church’s role in complementing national efforts in fostering moral and spiritual guidance.
“The church should support the government. As we commemorate Passover and reflect on the death and resurrection of Christ, it remains our mandate to continue appealing for more people to be born again,” he said.
